These three units span several grade levels. Older students learn how historians use archaeological evidence to reconstruct the history of Mycenae, Crete, and Troy. They read documentary evidence describing the founding of a Greek polis in Africa. Younger students delve into Homer’s Odyssey with a variety of projects. Some examples are: making puppets, "throwing" pottery, writing stories, publishing an Odyssey newspaper, writing epic poems, drawing murals and cartoons, and making maps.
